Arraigned suspected IPOB members remanded in Port Harcourt prison

A Port Harcourt Magistrate Court on Thursday charged 21 suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra with terrorism, remands them at the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre.

The River State police had paraded 21 suspects for allegedly taking part in killing and vandalizing in the State during the #EndSARS protests.

Arraigning the 21 suspects, the State Police Command alleged that they belong to the IPOB group.

The Chief Magistrate, Amadi Nna, who adjourned the case till December 29, 2020, asked the lawyers to the suspects to seek bail for their clients at the High Court, adding that the files of the suspects should be sent to the Department of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

However, the defendants have distanced their clients from the violence in Obigbo, saying the charges were framed up.
