Rivers State police command has revealed the killing of two persons in a suspected cult crash in Rumuomasi, Obio/Akpor local government area of the State.
Similarly, three person also confirmed killed near Kom Kim, in Obigbo local government area.
Obinwannem News learned that, the two young men were trailed and attacked by assailants, who drove in a Toyota Sienna vehicle near the Rumuomasi round about; shot them on the head, leaving them in a pool of blood.
Nnamdi Omoni, police spokesperson Confirmed the incident. He said the corpses of the victims had been deposited in the mortuary.
He said, ” Our attention was drawn to the Rumuomasi round about where there were gunshots. Our men, on getting to the scene, found the lifeless bodies of two young men who were killed by some gunmen driving in a Sienna car.
“It is a clear case of cult clash, a rival cult group went there to attack them. Understandably, those killed were members of a different cult group, they have been hunting and killing each other.”
He identified victims to be in their 20’s; assured that investigation had commenced, and the culprits would be “brought to justice”.
Meanwhile, regarding the Obigbo killing, report has it that, the gunmen rode in a motorcycle around the area for some minutes trying to locate their target.
An eyewitness revealed that the victims were at a spot, When the gunmen stormed the area, and opened fire on them; adding that they died on the spot.
She explained, “One of those who died was my relative. They were on a bike, and all of them carried guns. They just killed three people, at about 9pm on Thursday”.
Speaking on the matter, the police spokesperson said the incident was yet to be reported to the police. However, he promised to find out from the divisional police officer in the area, to get more report on this.
Subsequently, five persons are now in critical condition following an explosion that occurred at a fuel station, near timber area of Obigbo local government area of the State.
President of Obigbo youths association, Victor Nwachukwu, said the victims were in critical condition when he visited them in the hospital. He stated that explosion occured at Sobax fuel station, opposite ‘timber,’ noting that five persons were injured due to the explosion.
