Ebonyi State government has ordered the immediate deployment of more security operatives to “quench” the tension of communual crisis between indigenes of Effium and Ezra-Effium in Ohaukiru local government area of the State.

Obinwannem News gathered that the said crisis was caused by a motor park dispute, which eventual led to death, destruction of properties worth millions of naira and displacement of several indigenes.

The Commissioner of Information and Orientation in the State, Mr Uchenna Orji, confirmed to newsmen on Wednesday while briefing the outcome of the State executive council meeting.

According to Orji, he tagged the renewed crisis as “unfortunate,” noting that government had taken proactive steps to calm the issue which yielded positive result.

“This renewed crisis led to the attempted burning of a facility belonging to the Ibeto Group of Companies sited at the area.

“The State governor has directed the immediate deployment of more security personnel to the area to ensure permanent peace,” he said.

Orji said the unabated dispute between the Chairman of the council and the House of Assembly member, in the area, should be resolved peacefully to avoid any further penalities.

“The government warns that if both men fail to stop further crisis in the area, they would be stripped of their position and prosecuted.

Further more, he stated that the executive council commends the progress of work at Ebonyi ring-road which transverse eight local government, and warned no community should obstruct the work on the project, in order to benefit from it.

“Communities are advised to corporate with contractors among handling project and prevent all forms of crisis that would hinder construction,” he said.
