In a significant development, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully obtained an arrest warrant for the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke. The anti-graft agency is now taking steps to initiate extradition proceedings to bring her back to Nigeria.

This announcement was confirmed by Dele Oyewale, the Acting spokesman for the EFCC, who spoke exclusively to PM News. Alison-Madueke was arraigned today in London, United Kingdom, in connection with alleged bribery allegations. It is worth noting that the charges she faces in London differ from the 13-count charges related to money laundering that the EFCC has brought against her.

In response to this latest development, Oyewale emphasized that “criminality is criminality, irrespective of jurisdictional differences,” and stressed that no crime should go unpunished. The money laundering charges against Madueke span multiple jurisdictions, including Dubai, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Nigeria.

To ensure that the former minister faces trial in Nigeria, an arrest warrant has been secured, and extradition proceedings have been set in motion. The EFCC is committed to pursuing justice, and it appears that Diezani Alison-Madueke will soon have her day in Nigerian courts. This development marks a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to hold those involved in financial crimes accountable for their actions.
