The Lead Counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor has condenmend the proscription of IPOB by the River State government.

Governor Nyesom Wike had on Friday, proscribed the Biafra group and their activities in the State for what he called instigation of violence and destruction of properties in the State.

Recall that the #EndSARS protest had taken another dimension in Rivers State, wherein, many lives were lost and properties destroyed by the enraged youths.

The governor who placed a 50 million bounty on one Mr Sunday whom he claimed was the IPOB leader in River State also pleged to arrest and prosecute any IPOB member caught within the State.

Reacting to Wike’s actions, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor via his twitter handle, condemned the proscription of IPOB by the Governor, saying that the governor has no legal right to proscribe IPOB in the state, adding that his counsel will take necessary steps to get the governor’s faulty packaged pronouncement set aside in court.

The Barrister also noted that IPOB has nothing to do with the current #EndSARS protest that have been rampaging the country, adding that there were no evidence to prove such claims.

His tweet reads, “@GovernorNwike has no powers to proscribe IPOB. Is IPOB the #EndSARS youths currently protesting across the country for a better future? What was his conviction that IPOB members were the Youths protesting?

“Has he seen any of the protesting youths wearing IPOB insignias or armed with any of such during the protest? The pronouncement is ultra vires, has no foundation in law and to that extent is dead on arrival, and can not stand.

“It is moreso when @MaziNnamdikanu the Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had made it public, that IPOB is yet to join the protest and will only do so in the coming weeks.

“We will take necessary steps to get his hurriedly, but faulty packaged pronouncement set aside in court. Even the purported proscription of IPOB by the Federal Government of Nigeria is still a subject of Appeal.

“@GovWike should direct his energy towards addressing the concerns being raised by the Nigerian Youths, and restiveness that was occasioned by Govt’s inability to meet their demands.
