Manchester United’s duo Cavani and Pogba are in line for a January move after a series of poor performances by the Red Devils. Despite the signing of quality players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Jadon Sancho, things are going from bad to worst at Old Trafford.
Paul Pogba has failed to extend his contract with Manchester United despite the club promising a huge payment and a long-term deal. The France international is obviously not happy at the Theatre of Dreams because of their failure to hand him silverware for the past three years.
Cavani, on the other hand, is keen on moving away from the English club during the winter transfer window. A report from the Mirror suggested that Cavani came so close to moving last summer because of Ronaldo’s arrival. Cavani wants regular football and doesn’t need to be a backup player.
The duo are in line to leave the club in the upcoming January transfer window, so here is why Manchester United should do anything they could to convince the duo to stay. Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani are world-class players. The duo was very instrumental last season, as Manchester United made it to the Europa League finals as well as a comfortable top-four finish.
Had it been that Manchester United avoided the signing of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo, maybe things would have been better than last season. Cavani’s work ethic both on and off the pitch is second to none, and losing a quality player like him is one of the worst things that will happen to Manchester United.
Last season Cavani scored over 15 goals despite joining the team in the January transfer window. Paul Pogba on the other hand needs a quality defensive midfielder who will bring energy and strength to the midfield, then sit back and watch Paul Pogba do what he knows best.
In France, Paul has quality midfielders who cover his defensive woes, he doesn’t need to defend, what he needs is to create space and chances for the strikers to score. Manchester United should hold this quality, and instead of allowing him to move, the Red Devils should go and get a quality defensive midfielder.
