Vance, Trump’s VP nominee, promises to fight for ‘forgotten’ Americans
JD Vance, Donald Trump’s vice presidential nominee, promised in a primetime speech to fight for working-class Americans, whom he claimed had been “cast aside and forgotten” by the Democrats. Introducing himself to millions of Americans watching on television at home, the Ohio senator used his humble Midwest background to criticise “career politicians” like President Joe Biden.
In his speech at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he claimed that Trump was the “last best hope” for Americans. In the November election, Trump and his running mate will oppose the Democratic White House ticket, which is now led by Joe Biden and his Vice President, Kamala Harris.
Mr Biden’s account on X, formerly Twitter, fired out at Mr Vance on Wednesday night, questioning his positions on abortion and Ukraine.
Mr. Vance, 39, hopes to become one of the youngest vice presidents in US history. In his speech, he recounted his path from a challenging background in small-town Ohio to the US Marine Corps, Yale Law School, and finally the United States Senate.
