United States president Joe Biden announced an executive order Wednesday to sanction Myanmar Military over the ongoing coup, and tension in the country.

Obinwannem News had revealed last week, the Myanmar coup: Heavy protest hits to demand Sui Kyi’s release and other top official personalities.

Lately, tens of thousands of anti-coup protesters March on the streets on a daily basis , despite the ban of large gatherings and curfew .

However, it is pertinent to note the continuous molestation of protesters by security forces; with tear gas, water cannon, rubber bullets and other weapons. Also policemen raided the headquarters of Suu Kyi’s National league for Democracy ( NLD) party; albeit, no death has being recorded so far.

A group of protesters chanted “Don’t go to office,” outside Myanmar central bank in Yangon (as a civil disobedience), urging people in other industries to boycott work and put pressure on the Junta.

Similarly, they were also fresh rallies in the cities of Daiwei and Manalad, with protesters carrying signs that said ” Restore our democracy” and ” we condemn the military coup”.

US President Biden, in an attempt to address the crisis, called on military to reverse the coup, and release the detainees .

“I again call on the Burmese military to immediately release Democratic political leader and activists, Biden said as he flagged further sanctions.

“The millitary must relinquish power”

In a bid to summount pressure on the Junta, Biden announced on Wednesday, that his administration was cutting of the generals acess to $1billion funds in the US.

“We are also going to impose strong export controls, we ‘re freezing US assets that benefits the Burmese government, while maintaining our support for healthcare, civil society groups, and other area that benefit the people of Burma directly,” he said.
