Obinwannem News Uncovered Plot: Army to detain arrested Obigbo residents in Boko Haram cell

Following the arrests of Obigbo residents during the onslaught by the Nigerian soldiers, there are possibilities that the Nigerian army might secretly execute the arrested victims.

Proof to this claim is in a report on Tuesday, by Sahara Reporters, a Nigerian news agency based in New York City, that discovered the Nigerian Army secretly airlifted suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra who were arrested Obigbo LGA, in Rivers State to detained them at notorious kainji barracks in Niger State.

Parts of this revelation is as a result it investigations carried out after the Obigbo killings by the Nigerian security operatives.

It said an official at the Nigeria Air-force Base, Port Harcourt, said the military ordered all workers to leave the flight line in order for anyone not to identify those to be airlifted.

“The Nigerian Army brought in some guys perceived to have been arrested either on protest ground or in Oyigbo to the Air-force base in Port Harcourt.

“They were to be airlifted through the C-130 military aircraft to an unknown location.

“We could not know who they were or where they were taking them to because the military asked the airmen to leave the flight line so nobody sees what was going on,” the official said.

It also said some residents, said the soldiers shot at unarmed residents with the intent to kill while arresting anyone, who attempted to confront them or was lucky enough to escape being killed.

The report states, “According to the police and media reports, 30 Oyigbo residents the authorities suspected to be IPOB members have been arrested while the government has been silent on the killings in the community.

“However, Sahara Reporters has discovered that more than 30 persons were arrested by the joint operations of soldiers and police officers.

“The police announced a deflated figure of 30 while others are being transported out of the state for detention and probably torture.

“It was gathered that the soldiers airlifted those arrested to an underground prison inside Wawa Cantonment, New Bussa, Kainji, Niger State.

“According to reports, the prison, over the decade, has been known for detaining hundreds of Boko Haram suspects arrested during the ongoing insurgency in the Northern part of the country.”

Recall, in a recent report by Obinwannem News, residents noted that killings were still going on in the area.

One of the residents named Okpara confirmed in the report, that soldiers were fond of arresting people while taking them away to an unidentified location.
