The United Kingdom MP Nadine Dorries, a Health Minister, and Conservative has been proven to be infected by the coronavirus.

Ms. Dorries is reported to be the first MP to test positive since the outbreak of the deadly virus.

According to the MP, she has been taking all the advised precautions including self-isolation at home since the diagnosis confirmed her positive.

This is coming shortly after the sixth person died from the virus in the UK, which has a total of 382 cases, and 34 confirmed.

Ms. Dorries, in a statement, said that the English Public Health had started tracing people she had had contacts with, the department and her parliamentary office were closely following its advice.

MP Dorries is of great worry about her 84-year-old mother who she said was staying with her and began to cough on Tuesday.

It was confirmed that the MP has attended several meetings both in Westminster and her constituency in recent days.

Meanwhile, some other reports said the MP showed symptoms on Thursday of last week – the same day she attended a Downing Street event hosted by the prime minister – and had been self-isolating since Friday.

Further reports said that the latest person to die was a man in his early 80s who had underlying health conditions.

The UK government has promised to unveil its first Budget later, amid growing fears about the impact the outbreak will have on the UK economy.
