EPL: Chelsea legend, John Terry welcomes Lewandowski to Premier League
Chelsea legend, John Terry has welcomed Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandowski, to play in the Premier League someday.
Terry uploaded a video on his Instagram story about Lewandowski scoring one of his two goals for Bayern Munich against Stuttgart on Tuesday night.
Recall that Bayern Munich defeated Stuttgart 5-0 in the Bundesliga encounter.
The former England defender captioned the film, “I would love to see this man in the Premier League.”
EPL: Arsene Wenger opens upon his return to Arsenal, joining PSG
Former Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger has opened up on his future after being linked with a return to the club.
Wenger has also been linked with taking up the sporting director role at Paris Saint-Germain.
But the Frenchman distanced himself from the speculation, describing the rumour as ‘pre-Christmas imagination’.
The 72-year-old left Arsenal in 2018 after 22 years and has been working as FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development for the last two years.
However, Wenger has been heavily linked with a return to Arsenal over recent weeks, with coach Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu talking about his return.
Various reports emanating from France, meanwhile, have named Wenger as a target for PSG president Nasser Al-Khelafi.
World’s ‘richest footballer’, Faiq Bolkiah dumps European club
World’s richest footballer, Faiq Bolkiah has left his Portuguese club side, Maritimo, without playing even once since joining them more than a year.
The player rescinded his contract without making his debut in Portugal.
Faiq moved from Leicester City to Maritimo in the summer of 2020 after having previously belonged to the Chelsea youth academy, though he never played for either club.
He only did make the bench for the Portugal side for a game against Sporting CP in February 2021.
Faiq is 15 billion euro fortune. Son of the prince of Brunei, Jefri Bolkiah, and nephew of the Sultan, Hassanal Bolkiah.
The winger was sent to play with Maritimo’s B team this season but he failed to make an impression there either and his contract until next summer was rescinded.
Luis Suarez names best team in Champions League this season
Atletico Madrid striker, Luis Suarez, has identified Manchester United as ‘one of the best’ teams in the Champions League this season.
Suarez stated this while reacting to the Champions League round of 16 draws that was conducted on Monday.
Recall that Man United was drawn against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last-16 that will take place in February.
Ralf Rangnick’s side are currently in the fifth position on the Premier League table with 27 points from 16 games.
Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, won the LaLiga title last season but are already 13 points behind leaders Real Madrid this season.
FIFPRO World XI: Oshoala out, Onguene in Moscow’s Cameroonian striker Gabrielle Onguene made the women’s FIFA FIFPRO World XI shortlist, which was announced on Wednesday, but there was no place for Super Falcons captain Asisat Oshoala, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Four-time African Women’s Player of The Year Oshoala was Barcelona’s leading scorer this season with 12 goals in 12 appearances, and the top scorer in the Spanish League with 11 goals in nine games before her injury.
The 26-year-old is also the first African winner of the European Women’s Champions League.
In the shortlist, Oshoala’s Barcelona teammates Aitana Bonmati and Alexia Putellas were listed. Chelsea ladies had five players in the World XI shortlist.
Ann-Katrin Berger, Millie Bright, Sam Kerr, Pernille Harder and captain Magdalena Eriksson were all included after the Blues’ first appearance in the Women’s Champions League final
