Transfer: Liverpool dealt with a fresh blow as Barcelona close in on contract
Liverpool are set to miss out on reported transfer target Gavi this summer.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to the Reds amid contract uncertainty at Camp Nou.
Gavi is out of contract in 2023, and having rejected early offers from the Blaugrana, Barca were heading for a situation where they may have to sell the midfielder on the cheap this summer to avoid losing him for free.
But it looks like they have avoided those two disastrous scenarios, with a new contract now set to be agreed.
According to Sport, Barca are expecting to close an agreement with the star 17-year-old in the coming days.

Only the champions and runners-up completed the campaign with fewer goals allowed (26 each) than the Blues (33) and that is largely due to the incredible seasons by Rudiger and Thiago Silva. In addition to his defensive contributions, the 29-year-old scored three goals and added two assists in the league—including an absolute worldie against Brentford.
Despite being named to the PFA’s Premier League Team of the Year, Rudiger was not given Chelsea’s Player of the Season award. Mason Mount (13 goals, 16 assists in all
competitions) collected the honor for the second consecutive season. The veteran duo in defense of Rudiger and Silva were amongst the favorites as they were two of the highest rated and consistent Blues performers this year.

Nigeria forward, Ademola Lookman has said he faced a “tough decision” when picking which country to play for at senior level.
