According to JAMB, 86 universities and others admitted students illegally
An analysis of data on admissions for the 2022/2023 admission session in Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and other higher institutions of learning revealed that 88 institutions admitted students outside of the Central Admissions Processing System, also known as CAPS.
Admissions made outside of CAPS are considered illegal, null and invalid by JAMB. In 2017, JAMB introduced the Central Admissions Processing System, which allows all tertiary institutions to upload the admission status of individuals awarded admission.
CAPS has consolidated and automated admissions processes between individuals and their preferred tertiary institutions.
In 2020, JAMB advised universities to discontinue admitting candidates through their portals. The board referred to the activity as a gross exploitation of the computerised Central Admissions Processing System.

Vice President Shettima has established a presidential food systems team to leverage resources and ideas
The Presidency has engaged states, development partners, and other key stakeholders in continuous efforts to alleviate the country’s rising commodity prices and widespread food insecurity. To that aim, Vice President Kashim Shettima launched the Presidential Food Systems Coordination Unit (PFSCU) on Friday as part of President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to combat hunger and poverty across the country.
Marion Moon, Technical Assistant to the President on Agriculture in the Office of the Vice President, gave this presentation as a follow-up. Addressing the gathering of governors, cabinet officials, and development partners, Shettima stated, “The nation is facing a rare food security crisis, and the sooner we accept this reality, the better.”
“Food insecurity threatens the very foundation of our democratic experiment, which is why all hands must be on deck. We are in a food security crisis, but it also allows us to re-engineer and reorganise the country on a more solid foundation.”
Outlining the PFSCU’s mandate, the Vice President stated that the unit was not established to take over the functions of the Ministry of Agriculture and that the urgency and seriousness of the situation need the thoughts and resources of all parties.
Tinubu underlines his commitment to Niger Delta Development
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has underlined his administration’s commitment to ending years of neglect in the Niger Delta region through the Renewed Hope Agenda. Speaking at the Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit 2024 in Port Harcourt, the President, who was represented by the Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio, stated that the summit, with the theme “Renewed Hope for Sustainable Development of the Niger Delta Region,” marked a turning point.
He stated, “This administration promises renewed optimism and prosperity, and I believe this is the time we have been waiting for. It’s our moment to shine. To create long-term solutions, we must overcome disunity. Unity among the people of the Niger Delta and the entire nation is not an option, but a requirement. We can overcome the challenges that lie ahead thanks to our unified vision.
Mr. President is strongly devoted to the development of the Niger Delta. The East-West Road will be given priority. The National Assembly, which is fully represented here today, will do everything possible to ensure the completion of this critical road. Furthermore, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project will begin not only in Lagos but also in the Niger Delta, guaranteeing that both ends meet and the project is completed.
“The Niger Delta can support itself through agricultural resources, particularly rice cultivation and fish farming. By focusing on rice production, we can ensure that the Niger Delta not only fulfils its own needs but also contributes to the nation’s food security. We should be defined not just by our oil reserves, but also by our agricultural successes.
Why are Nollywood celebs dying? — Mama G
Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, also known as Mama G, has taken a swift shot at the core causes of the actors’ frequent deaths, blaming it on their carelessness and ignorance. the legendary actress made the last assertion during a conversation with our correspondent in Lagos last week. She also explained why she burst into tears during the late comedy actor’s funeral, John Okafor, widely known as Mr. Ibu, in his hometown of Enugu state late last month.
According to Mama G, “When you are doing something you enjoy, you will not bother to care for your health. Once you have life, you continue to do what you are doing. And it’s something that benefits your body. “Some people are so reckless that when they are sick, rather than going to the hospital for a proper check-up, they go to a chemist or pharmacy to buy a pain reliever. It is no longer safe with me. I’m not sure how many people think like me. That’s why I attributed it to carelessness. We’re trying to make people happy while disregarding about our health,” Mama G stated.
