The British monarch, King Charles III, has described the devastating floods that have ravaged the country in recent months as deeply saddening.
The British monarch expressed his and his wife’s “deep sadness” about the situation in a condolence message to President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday. He expressed sympathy to the victims and said his thoughts were with those helping with the recovery efforts.
“Your Excellency,” he says in his statement. Dear Mr. President, I wanted you to know how deeply saddened both my wife and I are to hear of the many people who have lost loved ones and whose lives have been devastated as a result of Nigeria’s devastating floods.
“We remember our visits to Nigeria and the kindness of the people we met with great fondness.”
“However insufficient this may be in such tragic circumstances, our hearts go out to all those who have suffered so much, and our thoughts are with those working to support the recovery efforts.” I know that the United Kingdom stands with Nigeria as it recovers from these truly heinous events.”
