HIV known as Human immune virus is a dangerous disease, that can be transmitted through different ways.

The symptoms of HIV at an early stage may be overlooked, but you shouldn’t forget that HIV can be passed from an infected person to a non-infected person. It is important that you should know your HIV status, to avoid transmitting it to other people unknowingly. Some HIV symptoms are the same for men and women, but not all of the symptoms.

The signs include the following:

  1. Menstrual changes
    Women who have HIV may experience changes in their menstrual cycle. When they menstruate, it may be lighter or heavier than it used to be. Sometimes they may not have a period at all.

2. Pelvic inflammatory disease
Pelvic inflammatory disease is an infection that affects a woman’s reproductive organs. A woman’s pelvis is located in the lower abdomen, and it contains the fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix and womb. Women with HIV may find it difficult to treat this disease, and it may last longer than usual.

3. Infections
HIV makes it difficult for the immune system to fight of disease, and it makes it easier for infections to stay in a woman’s body. Infections like yeast infection and bacterial infection, are very common in women with HIV. The virus can make it difficult for infections to be treated.

Other signs of HIV that can be found in people includes:

  1. Skin rashes: You may develop skin rashes or sores on the skin.

2. Swollen body part.: part of the body may become swollen. This can be the neck, armpit or back of the head. Swollen glands may last for months.

3. Weight loss : You may experience weight loss and constant stooling, accompanied with vomiting.

4. You may experience a chronic cough that lasts for months. It is important that you visit a doctor if you have any infection or illness that refuses to go after a long period of time.
