Tension continues to surround the conduct of Anambra governorship elections billed to take place On November 6th, 2021.

Although the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently disclosed that it was ready for the elections, the heightened insecurity that is prevalent in the state and the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB have gotten so many people worried over the elections.

It can be recalled that many gubernatorial candidates of various parties had to call off their campaigns as gunmen attacked, killed and injured persons at some campaign rallies that were held.

Notably, the attack on the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA rally where the convoy of the Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano was held for over two hours as gunmen engaged security operatives in a gun duel that lasted hours.

Now with barely two weeks to the governorship election in the state, the convoy of a member of the House of Representatives, Chinedu Obidigwe, APGA, representing Anambra East/West constituency was allegedly intercepted with guns and ammunition.

It was gathered that the convoy was intercepted by an eagle eye Department of State Security DSS official in Njete, Oyi local government area of the state after a tip-off.

Items reportedly recovered in the convoy were 52 Ak-47 rifles, 119 pump actions and thousands of ammunition.
Obidigwe is said to have been escorted to Zone 13 police headquarters in Ukpo, Dunukofia local government area for questioning.
