Obinwannem News Tension as Nigerian Air Force combs Orlu in search of ESN

Heavy tension has enveloped residents of Orlu community, Imo State, as military figher jets of the Nigerian security forces were spotted unleashing airstrikes in serious search of the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Obinwannem News gathered the raid began Thursday afternoon; connected to the military response to dislodge the personnels of Eastern Security Network. The latter were said to have had strongholds in the forests.

Recall, last month ESN personnels had a “clash” with the Nigerian army from Obinze barracks. About four soilders were reportedly killed .

The community head told reporters, “Nigerian solders are currently conducting aerial strikes in our areas. Many innocent lives may be lost, they are probably looking for ESN operatives who are checking the activities of killer Fulani herdsmen.”

“People’s home and market may be affected. We don’t need aircraft in Orlu. They should go and find the stolen school pupils in Niger state,”, another irate resident said.

Another Eyewitness said, “I have the video; there was an aircraft firing shots possibly in a nearby bush. Very reckless of the Airforce. Civilians are all over the place.”

The security outfit was launched by the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to protect the Eastern territories against banditry, killer herdsmen and the terrorist Boko Haram group.
