Special Intelligence Squad Nabs Two Economic Saboteurs in Rivers State Over Stolen Crude Oil
In a decisive operation, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG SIS) has apprehended two individuals involved in the illegal handling of stolen crude oil, concealed inside cellophane bags, and prepared for unlawful distribution. The arrest took place at the Abobi/Odagwa Community Forest in Etche Local Government Area, Rivers State.

According to reports, the suspects, dubbed “economic saboteurs,” had devised a covert scheme to package and smuggle the stolen crude oil, potentially causing significant economic losses to the nation. However, their plans were thwarted by the swift and tactical intervention of the CG SIS, which has been working tirelessly to curb illegal oil activities in the region.
The Commandant General’s team emphasized the gravity of the offence, warning that engaging in such illegal activities could lead to severe consequences. In a statement following the arrests, the squad urged Nigerians not to let their difficult circumstances push them toward criminal behaviour. “Don’t allow your temporary conditions to readjust you to committing crimes. You will still suffer the hard way,” the statement read.

The two suspects are now in custody and are expected to face charges relating to oil theft and economic sabotage. This arrest serves as a stern reminder of the ongoing fight against illegal oil activities in the Niger Delta and the government’s commitment to securing the nation’s resources from those attempting to exploit them for personal gain.
Investigations are ongoing, and further details will be provided as the case develops.
