Shooting at Trump rally: Gunman kills one audience member

A gunman opened fire at a Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania, killing two people and injuring the former president with a gunshot to the ear. The US Secret Service reported that a suspected gunman fired “multiple shots” from an “elevated position outside of the rally venue” towards the stage.

They said the gunman had been “neutralised” by US Secret Service agents and was now dead. The agency also verified that one spectator had been murdered and two others were badly injured. Trump stated that a bullet punctured the upper part of his ear during the incident, which occurred as he was giving a speech on stage.

“I knew something was wrong the moment I heard a zipping sound, gunfire, and felt the bullet rip through my skin. “Much bleeding occurred, so I realised what was going on,” he wrote in a post on his Truth Social site. “I’d like to thank the United States Secret Service and all of law enforcement for their prompt reaction. I express my heartfelt sympathies to the families of those killed and injured at the protest. “It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country.”
