Senator Abaribe shuts down the National Assembly and demands Nnamdi Kanu’s immediate release
Abuja: Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe’s courageous statement demanding the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu sparked chaos in the Nigerian National Assembly today.
The senator, who had previously served as a guarantor for Kanu’s bail, promised that parliamentary procedures would not resume until his demand was met.
Abaribe appeared at the National Assembly with a placard and blocked critical access highways, proclaiming, “Enough is enough.” He claimed that the long-term arrest of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader was unlawful and against the rule of law.
“As a surety, I have always stood with Nnamdi Kanu, and I will continue to do so until justice prevails,” said Abaribe. “Nothing will function in Nigeria until Kanu is released, as mandated by law.
The Igbo people are not fools—we have been patient enough. If President Tinubu insists on lawlessness, let it be complete lawlessness.
