SEDC’s ideas for a multi-modal transportation system are encouraging, according to Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
As part of their stakeholders’ engagement trip, I had the pleasure of welcoming the South East Development Commission (SEDC) Board and Management, led by Chairman Chief Chukwuemeka Wogu, to Government House in Enugu today. I applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing this long-awaited Commission and nominating individuals with the experience and capacity to deliver outcomes.
The South East Development Commission is a timely idea. Our region, with a population of over 27 million and a landmass of less than 30,000 km², should be viewed as a single market. A unified economic front will attract large investments and accelerate development. That is why I have directed the SEDC to focus on creating a unified market and improving critical regional infrastructure in order to make the South East a top investment destination.
A collaborative approach to development necessitates identifying the key enablers that will allow seamless movement around our communities and open up new economic opportunities. Strategic infrastructure that improves connectivity and enables large-scale investments is critical to the region’s competitiveness. SEDC’s plans for a multi-modal transportation system, including a rail network and superhighways, are encouraging since they position the South East as an economic powerhouse.
