According to a reliable source, Rocket sirens have been repeatedly trilling since 6 am in Southern Israel, as barrages of rockets are being fired from Gaza into Israeli cities as far away as Rishon Lezion, Gedera, and Ashdod.
There have been no immediate reports of injuries from the attacks, although several are being treated for anxiety, shock, and injuries from falling while running to bomb shelters.
The rockets came in after Israel assassinated Palestinian senior leader Baha Abu Al-Ata overnight.
The Israel State says that they were intending to carry out imminent attacks against Israel and was a so-called “ticking bomb.”
The Israeli Security Cabinet is set to meet at 9 am to discuss the escalation- the same day that MK Naftali Bennett is set to take over as Defense Minister.
The IDF is urging Israelis to stay close to bomb shelters, as they prepare for several days of battle.
An Israeli Twitter handler @JtruZmah had tweeted earlier today with a video showing how Iron Dome intercepted rockets in Tel Aviv.
Taking to his Twitter, he stated “Iron Dome launches Tamir interceptors in Tel Aviv against rockets fired by Palestinian militants in #Gaza. #Israel”.
Stay tuned for more details.
