Cristiano Ronaldo has bagged a brace in his second Premier League debut in Manchester United’s 4-1 win against Newcastle United, netting two goals that gave united a head start.

Ronaldo, who made his long-awaited return by scoring twice as the Red Devils saw off the Magpies at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The five-time World Player of the Year opened the scoring late in the first half before restoring United’s lead after Javier Maquillo equalised for Newcastle.

The win means United are top in the league table on 10 points just a point above champions Manchester City.

At 36 years and 218 days, Ronaldo is the oldest player to score for United in the Premier League since Ryan Giggs in February 2013 (39 years, 86 days v QPR), while only Giggs and Paul Scholes have ever scored for the Red Devils in the competition at an older age than Ronaldo.
