The new auspicious governor of Abia state, Dr, Alex Otti gives has asked laid off staff of Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration to return govt assets in their possession or face being sanctioned. He said that they have until 6 June l to return all the assets or face the music.

The directive was issued in a statement related by the state government, Professor Kenneth Kalu on saturday.

Professor Kalu said that directive was prompted by complaints received that some of the ex-governor appointees have refused to surrender government properties in their custody. Such properties include vehicles and computers.

While addressing the issue, the secretary said, ”It has come to the knowledge of the state government that some government officials, including appointees of the past administration, are still holding on to government properties, such as vehicles, generators, laptops and other assets.”

“Anyone who is in possession of government properties is hereby directed to return such to the office of the Secretary to the state government, on or before 4pm on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023, and obtain necessary acknowledgement from the SSG’s office.

“Please note that failure to comply with this directive will attract sanctions.”
