Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has told his legal team to “rescue” members of the outlawed group in various detention facilities across Nigeria because it “is a divine mandate”.

Newsbreak reports that according to Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, IPOB’s Lead Counsel, Kanu said this when his lawyers visited him at the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja on Thursday.

This news medium recalls that the Ebonyi State High Court, Abakaliki, on Wednesday adopted a no-case submission by the legal team of IPOB on the charge preferred against some members of the banned organisation.

The court subsequently adjourned their trial for ruling. The IPOB members have been detained since 2021 for various crimes, ranging from membership of a proscribed group to illegal possession of firearms.
