Authentic information and findings revealed absence of strategic checkpoints in Aba, Abia State.

Following the raid and killings of policemen by unknown gunmen in recent times, it was noted most police barricades in the commercial hub of the State, were nowhere to be found.

Reports made available to Obinwannem News confirmed that there are no longer checkpoint mounted on the streets of Aba.

A resident who does not want to be known said, “I can confirm to you that no checkpoint in Aba again.

” The policemen have all deserted over fear of possible killings by unknown gunmen. Policemen no longer patrol again,”, they said.

On Saturday, unknown gunmen reportedly stormed the Isiala-mbano divisional Headquarters located at Umuelemai in Imo state.

The gunmen were said to have freed suspects held in detention facility; invaded the divisional headquarters, and carted away arms.

An eyewitness said the gunmen, upon arrival, stormed the Divisional Headquarters located at Umueze road, and opened fire.

“On arrival, the suspects sacked policemen on duty, freed suspects, invaded the arms storage department of the facility before setting it ablaze.”

No report of any death yet, but there are high casualties from the attack.

According to a source, the gunmen did not flee as they stayed and supervised the burning of the police facility.
