The reconstruction of the collapsed bridge at New Artisan Market, along the Enugu Port Harcourt dual carriageway is set to begin, starting with palliative efforts on one lane of the standing bridge to make it operational within the next 10 days.

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, and Minister of Works Dave Umahi, confirmed these plans during their visit to the site on Wednesday.

Governor Mbah expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Minister Umahi for their prompt response to address the challenges faced by road users.

Umahi commended Governor Mbah’s leadership and announced that work would commence on both lanes around the middle of next month.

He also acknowledged the President’s funding through the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Act for the reconstruction of the bridges and other related projects, emphasizing the collaborative effort between federal and state authorities.
