Senator Rochas Okorocha the former governor of Imo State, has berates northern governors over rejection of Almajiri system in their various states, he condemned the act stressing that most of northern VIPs emanated from Almajiri system.

The Senator representing Imo West Senatorial district had made this known in an interview with BBC Hausa services in Kaduna and monitored by Obinwannem news.

According to Rochas, VIPs in the north are all products of the almajiri, adding that the immigration of Prophet Muhammad originated the Alamajiri system.

He said Northern governors describes Almajiri as urchins, stating that is unfair the way these governors are dealing with Almajiris.

In his words, Almajiris needs help, education and job, Who knows, one of them could be a president someday.

“The governors and rich people should help in transforming the Almajiri system of Islamic education, not subjecting them to humiliation. Many of northern prominent people today were once Almajiri.’’

Okorocha further stated that the system wasn’t the issue but hunger and poverty is, he added that Almajiri children need love and care like other children in the country.
