Leader of the Indegienous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has reaffirmed his stance to restoring the Sovereign State of Biafra.

Kanu, through his official Twitter handle, said referendum by the people, “not even the business of the president,” remained a determinant of leaving Nigeria.

He emphasised that, whether the country would disintegrate or remain integrated should be te people’s decision.

His Tweet states, “Dear Nigerian Govs, it’s not your business to decide whether the people of your state would remain Nigerians or not. It’s not even the business of the President or the Nigerian Army.

“Instead, it’s the business of the people, freely expressed through a process called REFRENDUM.”

Meanwhile, lawmakers and the millitary on Saturday, met with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, on a closed door meeting at the Nigerian Army Headquarters in Abuja, to deliberate on the rising agitation and secession threat by the South West led by the popular Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho and Eastern Biafra movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Although details of the meeting was not disclosed to the press, but a source privy to the discussion at the meeting, said the Army Chief vowed to use all powers at his disposal to maintain unity of the country and also to defend its territorial integrity.

The source said the two issues discussed are “the insecurity challenges confronting the nation and also the agitations to divide the country”.

However, the army chief last week, had declared his intentions to go after the activists who were bent on “dividing the unity of the country, and flush them out”.
