Popular celebrities join #EndSars protests in Rivers amidst Wike warnings
Many Nigerian celebrities have joined the protest to end the dreaded Special Police Unit, Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS.
The likes of Big Brother Naija celebrity, Tacha has shunned orders from the Rivers State governor, as she joins the huge crowd to protest.
Also spotted in the crowd is the popular music artist, Omah Lay who also joined the EndSars protest today in the Rivers capital.
Governor Nyesom Wike had warned against the EndSars protest in the State, a statement by the state government barred peaceful protests in the state, according to the statement, those who participate in the #EndSars protest will be made to face the law.
This according to the governor is because, the Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu had scrapped the Special Anti Robbery Squad and so there is no need for the protest.
The governor’s statement drew widespread criticism from the public. Popular actress Genevieve Nnaji added her voice in condemning the Governor’s stance, calling him a ”Dictator”
Thousands stormed the streets of Port-Harcourt city to support the EndSars protest.
