Following the shutdown of Aba, the megacity of Abia state by members of Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB who took to the streets in protest on Monday, the Nigerian police have reportedly arrested seven people suspected to be IPOB members.

According to Obinwannem news, the activists numbering over 100 and adorned with Biafran flags and different insignia, reportedly took to the streets of Aba in protest over the killings of Christians and Biafrans in the country.

The protest which kicked off from the Ala Oji Flyover on the Enugu – Port Harcourt expressway, through the Ariaria international Market ended at the popular Osisioma junction as some IPOB members were said to have sustained injuries while the security agencies fired shots to disperse the protesters.

The Commissioner of Police Abia state, Mrs. Janet Agbede when contacted, confirmed the arrest of the protesters but promised to reveal the actual number of the arrested IPOB members while they appear in court on Wednesday.
