Peter Obi said that his trip to Rome had been fraught with rumors and extortion
It’s apparent that the most profitable business for blackmailers right now is talking about Peter Obi in every unfavorable light. Even my serious spiritual vacation to Rome has been turned into yet another extortion campaign by merchants hired to spread anything negative about Obi.
A blackmailer falsely claimed I met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Rome to discuss an alleged ₦225 billion debt crisis with Fidelity Bank. These allegations are not only unfounded and spiteful, but also completely false.
I was previously in Rome on May 9th for Pope Francis’s lying-in state. Following the liturgy and the exchange of pleasantries, I flew from Vatican City to London and then back to Nigeria.
Throughout my career, I have served as the Chairman/Director of three banks/financial organizations, one of which being Fidelity. Fidelity has nearly 500,000 stockholders, although none of them owns a majority position. What this blackmailer wants is to damage these hardworking Nigerians and cause them unnecessary distress.
To those peddling these lies and indulging in extortion, I offer a simple prayer: May God grant you the virtues of gratitude and understanding to recognize that we arrived here with nothing and will go with nothing, and that they cannot profit from their terrible ways.
