Part 1: Evil in the Church

Obinwannem News Part 1: Evil in the Church

“Peter on this rock, I will build my church”. These are the words of Jesus proclaiming the birth of the church.

Jesus simplicity groomed the early church with selfless love, which the early church endeared so many people in following Christ.

Today, what we see in our churches is not only disheartening but also discouraging, where Christian love is practiced with less passion and irrational behaviors.

How many of our Christian brethren practice selfless love where you can give everything to make your neighbor happy, All we see is politics in high places in churches.

Who are you? Are you a member of my church? How long have you been attending my church? All these are unimaginable utterances by most of our pastors and priests in a bid to justify a man’s conduct for approval of love.

Today, churches are characterized by fake prophets and prophetesses who parade themselves as men and women of God.

Jesus warned us about them in Matt 7:15; Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep clothing. Mostly in Nigeria where the number of churches is increasing daily, people are called almost every day that they are Reverends or pastors, they use the church as business because of their selfish interests, and the most annoying part is many people are falling victims everyday all in the name of miracles and wonders, most of these people are asked to pay a certain amount of money as seed or offering to receive a particular miracle.

My question is this? how much did blind Bartimaeus pay to Jesus to regain his sight? How much did the woman with the issue of blood pay to Jesus to regain back her health? Please how much did Lazarus pay or his sisters give to Jesus to come back to life? If Jesus did not collect anything from these ones to set them free, why are these pastors collecting money from you to heal you? This is evil and should be ignored and discouraged.

The wish of Jesus is that all may be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. During one of my presentations, I asked my audience if going to church and prayers is the solution to the unending problems in Nigeria, a man raised his hands to respond and said that prayers are necessary to curb the problems?

I asked him a simple question, if prayers and going to church was actually the solution, why is the level of poverty and crime rates on the increase. Are you aware that a lot of people are poor and wretched because of the evil going on in the Church?

A man sold his land to sow seed to a pastor for financial breakthrough and today he is broke, some even tell you to buy praying materials like olive oil and so forth to obtain a miracle.

Churches today are captured by evil pastors who claim to be men of God, they extort money from people to enrich themselves. This is evil, men of God are supposed to be a source of blessings to the people and not instruments of problems to the people and the society at large.
