Obinwannem News Orlu attack: Gunmen kills police Inspector, burn vehicles, police station in Imo

Police station in Orlu, Imo state was raided by suspected gunmen on Thursday. A police inspector was killed during a gun duel with the assailants.

According to News gathered by Obinwannem, the attackers stormed the station by 9:35pm, throwing explosives and petrol bombs on the roofs of the police station, which led to a fire outbreak, razing the station and destroying parked vehicles.

Police spokesman, CSP Micheal Abattam confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday noting that three bandit were also killed in the crossfire.

He said, ” The command tacticle teams on ground engaged the bandits in a gunduel and due to the superior fire power of the police, the bandits were subdued.

“Three of the bandits were neutralized and their guns, one pump action gun and two locally made double barrel pistol were recovered. While others escaped into the Bush with bullets wounds. Unfortunately, a police inspector lost his live in the attack.

Abattam, urge Orlu community to assist the police to report any information that would help arrest the escaped bandits.

He also appealed to hospitals to report any person who comes to them for treatment of bullet wounds.
