An association of Ohuhu community in Umuahia South local government area of Abia State, under the aegis of ‘Ohuhu Welfare Union Worldwide,’ has lamented the continuous wrecking spree; wanton killings, and destruction of properties, by suspected herdsmen.
In a statement made by its president, Obi Aguocha (Udo Ji Agu-Ohuhu), the group noted that it had interacted with security services of the State regarding the ill-activities of the herdsmen, and the latter had been escorted out of their communities by the Nigerian army.
The statement reads in full:
“Results from reported clashes between herdsmen and our neighbours from Laguru, and Umuosu communities of Ubakala, in Umuahia South L.G.A., the President General Ohuhu Welfare Union Worldwide, is in touch with all the Presidents of all Ohuhu Communities, who are expectedly are responding to this news, by sounding Security (Ekwe) gong alerts accross our communities now.
“The Union’s interaction with the State Security services leadership, indicates that the disagreement did not resort to violence, or loss of life to any of the parties.
The Union has also been informed, that the herdsmen have been escorted out of these communities by the Nigeria Army.
“The Union wishes to encourage increased vigilance accross our communities, while urging all our people to be totally law abiding, and not to do anything that will be an excuse for soldiers or policemen to invade or bring harm to any Ohuhu indigene.
“Be assured, that the leadership of the Union is monitoring the situation and would promptly send out advisories to our communities, as they become necessary.
“Let us remain steadfast in our prayers, that the divine mercies of God will see us through this difficult season in Jesus name, Amen.
“Obi Aguocha
(Udo Ji Agu-Ohuhu)
President General.”
