Igbo Socio Cultural Organization Ohaneze Ndigbo has kicked against the sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB noting that it would increase hardship.
The organization also appealed to the military to stop militarization of South East by creating more checkpoint in almost every kilometer, like it was a conquered territory.
Ohaneze said, the sit-at-home declared by IPOB would increase hardship the Igbo, who were going through military and police checkpoints stiflingly the economy of the region.
This was disclosed by the National Publicity Secretary of Ohaneze, Chief Alex Ogbonna in a telephone interview, who made an appeal to the group to embrace wider consultation and dialogue as a way forward, instead of declaring every Monday sit-at-home.
He said, “for a group to come to try to dictate for the Igbo on the days to go to work and the days they shouldn’t go to work for Nnamdi Kanu, this is unwise. The wise thing to do is to make wider consultation with the people and the leadership of the region”.
Subsequently, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB had declared a sit-at-home order in solidarity with their leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, calling for his unconditional release.
