Ohanaeze Ndigbo, southeast Governors Meeting Over Obigbo Massacre, A Dance On The Grave – OYC

Obinwannem News Ohanaeze Ndigbo, southeast Governors Meeting Over Obigbo Massacre, A Dance On The Grave – OYC

The National President of apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Youth Council(OYC), Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka have lamented the ‘journey of cowards’ made by Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by Chief Nnia Nwodo and Southeast governors over the genocide committed by the Gen. Muhammadu Buhari Administration, Aso Rock cabals and Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers in Obigbo.

In a statement signed by ThankGod Emeh, the Special Assistant on News Media to the National President Ohanaeze Youth Council OYC, Igboayaka noted that the unfortunate ordeal of Igbo youths and clampdown of IPOB in the state was a shame to democracy.

He regretted that the visit of Igbo leaders to Gov. Nyesom Wike by Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Southeast governors was humiliating, noting that it was a mere praising visit to a governor that has lost his sense of humanity and empathy. He, therefore, described the visit as ‘a dance on the grave of the dead’.

OYC described the journey of Southeast governors and Ohanaeze Ndigbo as a disgrace, insult, humiliation to the whole noble respected Igbo race, opting that they could have set-up a Committee to meet with Gov. Wike and later invite him, instead of stooping so low by sending five Eastern governors to meet one governor.

He added that Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the southeast governors sold indigenous Igbos in Rivers State for a banquet table with Gov. Wike, saying that their political desperation led them to lack strategical and tactical capacity to solve the problems in Igbo land and anger of Igbo youths who are pursuing separation with pro-Biafra groups.

“It is regrettable that we watch with keen interest how such magnitude of crime against God and humanity committed by Gov. Wike was dealt with levity by the Igbo stakeholders. It’s with pains and agony in the heart of Igbo youths, that the Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Southeast Governors couldn’t set up Special Committee that will look into the wanton killings that took place at Obigbo.

The national president of Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka maintained that the resurrection of the Biafran quest by young people brought about a period of test of leadership capacity from Ohanaeze Ndigbo and governors of Igbo extraction.

He stressed that it is in the time of crisis that true leaders can distinguish themselves, but it’s regrettable that Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the governors, and other Igbo political stakeholders failed to build the capacity to solve the raging sociopolitical cum economic problems in Igbo land.

“They resorted to condemning their own while Northern leaders continue to romance with Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen and bandits, advocating amnesty for them.

“It’s unfortunate to note that none of the visitors could query Gov. Wike to publish the report of an independent panel of inquiry indicting the perpetrators of killing and burning during the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest bearing in mind that the #EndSARS protest and violence that ensued did not only take place in Rivers state but in most parts of Southern Nigeria by angry Nigerian youths.

“It is regrettable that even in Edo state where there was a recorded incident of a prison break, yet there was no reprisal attack from the military, therefore Ohanaeze Youth Council(OYC) affirmed that the military operation at Obigbo with the state curfew was an orchestrated attack characterized by hate and wickedness by the Nigerian government against the innocent inhabitants of the area who are mostly from the Igbo ethnic group.

“The Council noted that Gov. Wike has lost sense of history by describing indigenous Igbo people in Rivers state as strangers during the meeting with Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Southeast Governors.

“Needless to say that Portharcourt legally and originally is an Igbo land according to WACA Court ruling in 1958. The then West African Court of Appeal (WACA) judgment in the case between IKWERRE VS. OKRIKA in 1958 bordering on the status of Port Harcourt settled it. It’s on history that WACA decided that Port Harcourt belongs to the Igbos. There was no appeal till date. That Port Harcourt is an Igbo city was a judgment of a superior court that has not been vacated.

“It is historically disgraceful that Gov. Wike consistently maintained his inferior blatant lies that all IPOB members in Rivers are Igbos from Igbos Southeast and there are no indigenous Igbos in Rivers State.

“It is quite so shocking and surprise that neither Nnia Nwodo nor SouthEast Governors challenged or corrected his lack of history narrative, but cowardly endorsed his narrative without looking at the historical picture such lies could cause next generation.

“The narrative of Nnia Nwodo using Igbo people that vied election in the USA with Igbo people in Rivers state does not have any similarity, his analysis means that he has succumbed to the unhistorical claim of Gov. Wike embracing the lies that Ndigbo are strangers in Rivers state.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Southeast governors agreed with Gov. Wike that Igbos are strangers in Rivers State, a state where the Secretary-general of Ohaneze Ndigbo Mr. Uche Okwukwu who hails from Etche and the PDP national chairman Uche Secondus who hails from Omuma came from, it’s a sell-out by supposed elders who ought to make the history straight in the face of Gov. Wike.

“The current leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, governors of the Igbo extraction and other political office holders have lost credibility and confidence of Ndigbo, especially the young generation. The meeting with Gov. Wike was a mere expression of their insatiable political quest for power, therefore such meeting does not meet 1% expectation of Ndigbo”.

Igboayaka urged Igbo youths to swallow their pains at this time of rejection by the supposed Igbo elders and persecution by the murderous government and remain calm as every effort and record has been going on to document the massacre Of Igbo youths at Obigbo which Gov. Wike will face as soon as his immunity expires on May 29th, 2023.

“The youths will mobilize and force his arrest like a crime perpetrator to face local and international law,” he added.
