Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Seriake Dickson, and the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC: A Convergence of Exceptional Like-minds
The recent defection of Nigeria’s most popular presidential aspirant, Mr Peter Obi and his equally enormously popular Vice presidential aspirant, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso into the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has generated more interest and comments than any other incident in the build-up to the 2027 elections. It is necessarily so because that deft move defied all attempts by haters of good governance in Nigeria to prevent Mr Peter Obi from being on the ballot.
For so long, we have had political parties with no clear direction in terms of ideology, vision or programmes and thus politicians conveniently migrate to the ruling party, with their eyes only on the share of the so-called national cake.
This trend became most glaring and shameless since the emergence of All Progressives Congress, APC party whose only manifesto is nothing more than massive borrowing, squandermania and propaganda. One of the few principled elected officers who have refused to join the APC bandwagon purely out of principle and conviction is Senator Seriake Dickson, founder and leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC who happily received Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso into the party as men with similar character and ideology.
According to the National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, “The NDC is an ideological party. I don’t want to leave active political life without bequeathing to the next generation an ideological and purposefully focused party and nation, based on true federalism. ” Thus NDC is focused on disciplined governance, long term planning and institutional accountability. Their core manifesto would include transforming Nigeria from consumption to production. strengthening national security and fostering youth innovation. The core motto and slogan is ‘Service to the people’.
Without doubt, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso are the only two Nigerian politicians with massive organic followership across the country without any financial or material inducement but squarely based on their performance in office as governors.
Unlike most other politicians, these icons have long conquered greed and have devoted their lives to uplifting fellow countrymen and humanity. Add Seriake Dickson’s CV to the mix and you have a perfect alignment between party leadership and aspirants.
When God wants to save a nation, he brings the best of the bests together in a most unusual and dramatic manner. This is exactly what has happened in the past one and a half weeks, with the arrival of these two iconic figures into the fold of NDC as presidential and Vice presidential aspirants.
This is indeed a great time to be a Nigerian, especially with the firm belief that Nigerians will troupe out en-masse and vote for Mr. Peter Obi and his vice, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, under the NDC party, to rescue our dear country from the brink of total collapse, to the glory of God.
