The distribution of high-powered motorbikes was carried out on April 23rd 2026, with over 200 neighborhood watch officials in attendance. Among them were 36 CSOs from the 56 communities across the 20 wards in Nsukka LGA.

The DPO and Area Commander were also invited and made earlier appearances but had to leave due to other pressing operational matters. The distribution formula for the motorcycles prioritized strategic areas that have experienced security flashpoints, especially border communities, to strengthen security operations and improve effectiveness.

Recall that the formal presentation and handover of the securitiy apparatus to the Nsukka LGA, Chairman, Hon Engr Jude Chinedu Asogwa KSJI, took place earlier this year, on January 11, 2026, at Adada House, Nsukka.

Addressing attendees, the council chairman explained that the initial phase of the distribution prioritizes border communities due to their heightened vulnerability. The first batch of beneficiaries includes Anụka, Agụ Ama-Agụ, Agụ-Opi, Eha Ndị Agụ, and Agụ-Obimo, which shares a boundary with Ụzọ-Uwani.

‎He further announced that the next phase will extend to additional communities, namely Agụ Adada Lejja, Agụ Ụmabọ, Okutu, Ụtọbọlọ, and Ibagwa Agụ.

In his own remarks to the joint assembly of Neighborhood Watch, Anti-Cult, and Anti-Drug Units before the distribution, the Nsukka LG Diaspora Desk Officer, Rev. Mike Maduabuchi Ugwu informed the excited audience that the donation of these power bikes by members of the Nsukka Diaspora Community came from genuine concern for the safety and protection of our communities and people. Secondly, it is to support the security architecture already established by the administration of Hon. Engr. Jude Chinedu Asogwa, KSJI.

“The motorcycles, and of course the DJI MAVIC 4 PRO Surveillance Technology Drone, are expected to enhance mobility, improve rapid response, and bolster surveillance efforts in these areas. It’s a commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Nsukka LGA,”

“The Nsukka Diaspora Community considers this collaboration with the LGA in the area of security as the first of many other foreign investment and developmental projects to come, which will ensure employment and youth empowerment, amongst others,” he stated.

The beneficiary communities in this first phase are: Opi-Agu, Eha-Ndiagu, Anuka, Agu-Edem, and Agu-Obimo, which have previously recorded varying levels of security challenges.

He emphasized the need for stricter monitoring of movements at all entry and exit points in border communities.

He further assured the LGA Council Chairman, Hon. Engr. Jude Chinedu Asogwa, and the security operatives that the NSLGDD is mobilizing and working hard towards the second phase of this support. More importantly, they will be closely watching and observing how effectively this equipment is deployed and the results of their activities within the LGA.
