Northern Governors rejects SARS ban in a meeting with the Presidency
Northern Governors have met with the Presidency to reject the total disbandment of the under-fire police unit SARS.
Speaking to the press after the meeting on Thursday, the Chairman of the Northern Governor’s Forum, Simon Lalong, rejected the move, calling on the administration to embrace the option of reformation to enable the SARS to discharge their duties effectively.
Lalong cited contributions of the police unit in the fight against insecurity in the North even though their continued existence has ultimately divided the country.
The Presidency announced the disbandment of SARS on Monday in a bid to quell the rising tensions in the country, however, protests continue to spread like wildfire across the entire nation.
