Nnamdi Kanu replies Chimamanda on ‘Biafra unity’

Obinwannem News Nnamdi Kanu replies Chimamanda on 'Biafra unity'

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has finally replied the Igbo born award winning author, Chimamanda Adiche, over her comments on the unity of Biafrans.

The 43-year old writer, in a recent interview, had said she feared her people would not be able to unite politically, should it come to nominating and voting an Igbo president; let alone talking about Biafra.

Reacting, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu during a live radio broadcast monitored by Obinwannem news, stated that Chimamanda was being selfish, urging her to go back and re-study the history of the Jews.

Tracing it down to Chinua Achebe, Kanu noted that Achebe was more popular with more books, but was denied the ‘Noble Price Award’ simply because he refused to denounce Biafra.

He also likened Chimamanda to the likes of Ukpabi Asika, who would think “they have arrived” simply because they were learned.

In his words, “Now I know why Chinua Achebe was denied the Noble Price, instead it was given to Wole Soyinka.

“Achebe was more popular, wrote more books. His novel, ‘Things Fall Apart,’ has been translated into over 250 languages in the world.

“Just because he never compromised on his stance, on Biafra; he never denounced Biafra. Chinua Achebe was a hardcore till death.

“But, Chimamanda Adichie thinks because she was given glass ornaments, she has arrived; and thinks she can speak for Biafra, out of her own selfish interests.

“She should go and read history and she will know that even the Jews fought against the emergence of Israel.

“Those who have ruled Nigeria, how is their region or State, did it change their lives?” Kanu asked.

He added, “Chimamanda Achebe is like Ukpabi Asika, because you think you are learned, you now think you have arrived.”
