Personal Assistant to Nigeria’s president on News Media, Bashir Ahmed, has denied reports that Isa Pantami, Nigeria’s Minister of Communication, had been placed on the United States terror watch list.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, there were reports claiming that Isa Pantami had been placed on the terror list over ties with former leader of Boko Haram terrorist group.
The report, however, claimed that the Minister was said to be a close confidant of the late Mohammed Yusuf, former Boko Haram leader.
Reports also claimed that Pantami had ties with Abu Quatada al Falasimi and other Al-Qaeda leaders whom he revered and spoke highly of.
However, reacting in a Tweet on Monday, Bashir described the report as “fake news”.
He maintained that the Minister had never being on any US watchlist.
He tweeted, “You have just endorsed a fake report without verifying. For your information, @Drisapantami, has never been on any US watchlist”.
