Information Minister Lai Mohammed ordered the NBC to “immediately commence the process of licensing call OTT, and social media operations in Nigeria”.
The ban on Twitter has denied Nigerians access to Twitter. However, it appears most Nigerians can access it by passing domain restrictions through alternative platforms.
Twitter had placed sanctions; that a content tweeted by Nigeria’s president Buhari violated its rules.
Reacting, the government accused the platform of bias against its president, and undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.
Although, the presidency said the ban was temporary, Human Rights groups, and foreign organizations, have berated the president; calling for a reversal of the suspension.
