Obinwannem News Naija Reacts to news of Alibaba founder, Jack Ma leading the frontlines in the war against COVID19 in Africa

The internet exploded in jubilation as news broke on Tuesday that aid donations to African countries by the founder of Alibaba Group, Jack Ma had arrived Lagos.

The medical supplies which were delivered via an Ethiopian Airlines flight contained 5.4 million face masks, 1.8 million detection tests kits, 40,000 sets of protective clothing and 60,000 sets of protective face shields.

The news sent mixed reactions across the nation; many were filled with excitement owing to several reports of sheer laxity and incompetence of the Federal government in handling the pandemic while the majority of Nigerians have also criticized the country’s richest businessmen including clerics and politicians for their lack of empathy and failure to assist the government with similar gesture like Jack Ma’s.

Nigeria is home to many billionaires with it’s many prominent pastors breaking through the Africa’s richest lists in recent years.

There are many reports of Nigerian Politicians owning some of the most expensive properties in Europe, Dubai and America, and stacks of money stashed away in banks across the world.

With just 3 test facilities for the COVID19, several poor calls and inactions in creating public awareness for the disease, Africa’s largest economy remains one of the most ill-equipped nations to handle the global pandemic.
