Military Scores Major Victory Against Terrorists, Kills 1166 Insurgents
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has expressed optimism that the current security challenges facing the country will soon be a thing of the past, following the military’s recent successes against terrorist groups.
Addressing journalists at the Army Headquarters in Abuja, Lt. Gen. Yahaya revealed that a total of 1166 terrorists have been neutralized in recent operations across the country. This significant milestone, he noted, is a testament to the military’s renewed strategy and determination to combat insecurity.
According to him, the military has also rescued hundreds of civilians held captive by the insurgents and recovered large caches of arms and ammunition. He commended the troops for their bravery and resilience and assured Nigerians that the military is committed to restoring peace and stability to all parts of the country.
“The Nigerian Army, in conjunction with other security agencies, has been working tirelessly to ensure that the country is safe and secure for all citizens,” he said. “Our recent successes against the terrorists are a clear indication that we are winning the war against insurgency.”
Lt. Gen. Yahaya attributed the military’s success to the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, who he said has provided the necessary support and resources to the armed forces. He also praised the cooperation and support of the Nigerian people, saying that the military cannot do it alone.
“We need the support and cooperation of all Nigerians to win this war,” he said. “We must all work together to ensure that our country is safe and secure for all.”
The Chief of Army Staff also announced that the military will be launching a new operation aimed at clearing the remnants of the terrorists from their hideouts. He assured Nigerians that the operation would be conducted with utmost professionalism and respect for human rights.
“We will not rest on our oars until every inch of our territory is free from the grip of the terrorists,” he said. “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our country is safe and secure for all.”
