CONTROVERSY ERUPTS AS SIMON EKPA CALLS FOR “TOTAL FREEDOM” AND VENGEANCE OVER BIAFRA WAR ATROCITIES
Monday, August 26, 2024
Pro-Biafran activist Simon Ekpa has sparked outrage with a statement he made today on his X handle, in which he demanded “total freedom” from Nigeria and vowed to avenge the deaths of 5 million Igbos killed during the Nigerian-Biafra war.
Ekpa’s statement, which has gone viral, reads: “How can anyone expect us to forget this? The only way to appease the gods is total freedom from the entity that committed this genocide and atrocities against us. Today, the same fate has befallen them. Claiming that the blood of 5 million Igbos killed during the Nigerian-Biafra war must be avenged. And he will do that.”
Ekpa’s call for vengeance and secession has been met with fierce criticism, with many accusing him of promoting hate speech and inciting violence.
Supporters, however, see Ekpa’s statement as a justified response to the historical injustices suffered by the Igbo people.
The controversy has reignited debates around the legacy of the Biafran war and the ongoing calls for Biafran independence. Stay tuned for further updates as this story continues to unfold.
