Diego Maradona, one of football’s greatest, has died in his Buenos Aires home, Argentina.

News of his death sent shockwaves across the world as many recount stories of the man and legend.

Maradona scored the infamous “hand of God” goal and a second “goal of the century” winner in the World Cup 86’ quarter-final match against England.

He had suffered blood clots in the brain and was admitted for surgery and alcohol treatments in early November.
His representatives said he died of a fatal heart attack.

The Argentine FA confirmed the news via a statement on Twitter; “The Argentine Football Association, through its President Claudio Tapia, expresses its deepest sorrow for the death of our legend, Diego Armando Maradona

“You will always be in our hearts.”

Heartwarming messages continue to pile in for the man described by former England coach, Fabio Capello, as “an extraordinary player, unique, an immense talent,”.
