French police have reportedly killed a man in Paris following a knife attack that killed one and left two seriously injured.
The incident was said to have taken place at the Hautes-Bruyères State Park in Villejuif, this according to the Prefecture de Police.
Videos of the attack circulating on the internet show armed police shooting the attacker in the car park, the attacker was wearing what seemed to be explosive vests.
A local mayor had earlier said that one person was killed and several others injured in the attack. The police couldn’t immediately confirm the number of casualties but advised the public to stay away from the area.
Two injured victims are said to be receiving treatment for serious injuries in nearby hospitals, Laure Beccuau, the prosecutor whose office is handling the case, told reporters
She said witnesses were being interviewed to establish the details of the incident, she also declined to disclose details about the attacker. Recall that four people were stabbed to death in Paris last October by a Mickael Harpoon, he was an IT specialist for the Police Headquarters in Paris at the time.
Prosecutors stated the attacker was shot dead by the police in what they said was another of many attacks by radical Islamists. Witnesses reported hearing the knife-wielding terrorist shout “Allahu akbar” during the attack.
Paris had witnessed similar terror attacks in the past when radical Islamists detonated explosives outside a stadium and shooting many outside the Bataclan theatre and other locations across Paris, 130 people lost their lives in that November 2015 attacks widely regarded as one of the worst terror attacks on French soil.
