Breaking News: The Great Heist: Former DSS Chief’s Son Abba Bichi on the Run with $2 Million

It was a quiet evening in the highbrow district of Maitama when the news broke. Yusuf Magaji Bichi, once one of the most powerful men in Nigeria’s security apparatus, had been removed from his position as Director General of the Department of State Security (DSS). But the drama unfolding behind the scenes was far more shocking than his dismissal.

As the dusk settled, inside the lavish Bichi residence, a scene of betrayal was about to unfold.

“Where’s Abba?” Yusuf asked, pacing back and forth in the living room. His trusted Chief Security Officer, Mr. Adamu, stood silently, unsure of how to answer.

Abba Bichi, Yusuf’s son, a flamboyant character known more for his extravagant lifestyle than for any achievements, had disappeared. Earlier that day, the young man had broken into his father’s private study. He knew the secrets of the house—where Yusuf stashed the bundles of cash collected over the years from political dealings. With his father out of power, Abba saw an opportunity too tempting to resist.

“I saw him head towards the study,” muttered Adamu, looking nervously over his shoulder. “But I thought nothing of it.”

Yusuf’s heart raced. The safe, which contained $2 million—about N3 billion—was in that study. He rushed into the room, only to find the vault wide open and the money gone.

As the realization hit him, Yusuf felt the walls closing in. “He stole from me?” he whispered, the words barely escaping his lips.

Hours later, the DSS headquarters buzzed with the news. Senior agents gathered, exchanging whispered conversations about the scandal that had just erupted. It wasn’t just Abba.

“He’s not the only one,” murmured a source within the DSS. “Adamu—he took money too.”

Mr. Adamu, the loyal CSO, was caught red-handed. In a desperate move, he had tried to clean out his boss’s office, stuffing wads of cash into a duffel bag. But unlike Abba, Adamu wasn’t swift enough. Agents apprehended him the moment he stepped out of the office, the bulging bag of dollars giving away his crime.

“What were you thinking, Adamu?” a senior officer barked as they dragged him away. Adamu hung his head, knowing there was no escape now.

Meanwhile, Abba was already on the run. The once-promising footballer, now a regular fixture in Abuja’s exclusive nightclubs, had disappeared from the spotlight. Those who knew him spoke of his wild lifestyle—his $80,000-a-year apartment in Maitama, his failed soccer dreams, and his insatiable taste for the high life.

“He’s been reckless for years,” an insider said. “But stealing from his father? That’s a new low.”

As the search for Abba continued, DSS operatives launched a nationwide manhunt, hunting for the young man who had crossed the ultimate line. But as whispers circulated in Abuja’s elite circles, many wondered: Was Abba acting alone? Or were there more secrets buried beneath the Bichi family name?

For now, only one thing was certain: the scandal that rocked the DSS was far from over. And with $2 million in stolen cash, Abba Bichi’s disappearance was only the beginning of a high-stakes chase.
