Obinwannem News Just in: Senator Abaribe calls for Buhari's resignation

Senate minority leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe (PDP) has called for the President’s resignation during a debate on insecurity in the Senate. The senator was responding to a national security motion sponsored by the senate majority leader, Yahaya Abdullahi (APC) on Wednesday.

Speaking on the floor of the Senate, Abaribe said,- “Mr President, the government told us that Boko haram has been defeated,

He bemoaned the government’s deployment of propaganda machinery to cover for its apparent incompetence. “Those who live by propaganda will die by propaganda.

“Now we will go to this government and ask the government to resign because it can no longer do anything for the country.

“Nigerians did not elect the IG, the chief of staff, joint service chiefs and the national security advisers.

“We elected the government of the APC because they assured the people that they had the key to security in Nigeria.

The Senate President Ahmed Lawan quickly remarked during the address asking the minority leader to desist from politicizing the matter and to avoid making a hate speech at which point, other APC senators cheered on.

In conclusion, Senator Abaribe said, ” Yes, Nigerians voted a government into power and that government even said, ‘if we don’t perform, stone us’, We are going with the stones to stone them because they are no longer performing.”
